A vigorous and spreading climber. Large evergreen leathery leaves, deep green in color, usually composed of 5 leaflets. Well capable of scaling a wall, it adheres itself to the surface of the support by aerial roots. Grows up to 20 m, with about a meter of annual growth.
Its longevity makes it particularly suitable for growing over pergolas, walls and fences creating evergreen cover. Prefers soils that are not excessively dry or acid. Well suited for shaded or partially shaded areas.
