A groundcover rose, long-blooming and highly resistant to disease. Well adapted to Polish winters. Ideally suited for urban green areas.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: A compact shrub of moderate height. Flowers double, deep red, gathered in large inflorescences; blooms abundantly over a long period of time, from the end of June till October. Leaves small, green, leathery and glossy.

HOW IT GROWS: Reaches 0.5 m height and ca. 0.8 m width. Numerous auxiliary shoots cover the ground quickly. Shoots are straight at the beginning but as they grow they tend to arch sideways under the weight of inflorescences.

WHERE TO PLANT: The plant is undemanding, robust and easy to maintain. Thrives in fertile, permeable soil, in sunny sites. Frost hardy (zone 5-8).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min. Place the root ball in a 40 x 40 x 40 cm hole with a 10 cm layer of well-rotten manure or compost, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Fill the hole with fertile soil. Does not require spring pruning. The only necessary procedure is the removal of dead and damaged shoots.

HOW TO APPLY: Recommended as a part of plant compositions – intermingled with other shrubs, perennials and vines. Perfectly suited for urban conditions – grown along roads, paths or roundabouts – as well as for container cultivation. Spreads fast, covering the ground densely.

ORIGIN: Harkness, Great Britain, 1979.
