A Japanese variety growing up to 2-3 m. White to pale pink flowers of about 16 cm in diameter, shading to pink or crimson pink round the edges. 6 to 8 tepals, pink on the outer side. Violet-red anthers on creamy filaments. Blooms in May-June and again August-September. Particularly useful for training up trellises, stakes and other supports, as well as for growing in containers on balconies and patios. It can climb up natural supports such as deciduous or coniferous bushes and dwarf shrubs.
