A vigorous, semi-evergreen species reaching 3 m (1 m of annual growth) on a suitable support. Interesting, green with yellow veins leaves. Flowers small, white, changing to yellow with age from June to August. Berries small, purplish-black with a light waxy bloom. Succeeds in mediocre soils, but may freeze during severe winters. Best planted in sheltered or half-shaded positions, both as a climber or a ground cover. Well suited for scrambling over arbors, pergolas and other supports. Makes good ground cover.
