Fruiting rose recommended for house gardens as well as for commercial plantations. The fruit are a valuable source of vitamin C. The cultivar is resistant, undemanding and easy maintain.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Fruit edible, highly nutritious, quite large (3-4 cm long), red, very numerous, attractive; start ripening as early as VIII. Flowers 4-6 cm across, single, pale pink, of delicate fragrance; appear in V and VI. Leaves blue-green, oddly pinnate. Stems are straight, thorny.

HOW IT GROWS: Shrub of an upright habit. Stems form dense clumps. Reaches 2 m height; grows slowly.

WHERE TO PLANT: Requires a sunny or semi-shaded site. Tolerates average to poor soil. The preferred soil Ph is neutral. The cultivar is draught resistant and withstands saline soil. Totally hardy (zone 4–8).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min.  Place the root ball in a 40 x 40 x 40 cm hole with a 10 cm layer of well-rotten manure or compost, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Fill the hole with fertile compost soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. The only measure that should be taken is removal of dead or damaged shoots in spring.

HOW TO APPLY: Due to its valuable fruit the shrub is recommended for amateur cultivation in house gardens and allotments well as in commercial plantations (including the ecological ones). Suitable for forming ungroomed hedges. Well-adjusted to urban conditions. The fruit contain large amounts of vitamin C, macro and microelements as well as flavonoids. Excellent for making wine, tinctures and other preserves.

ORIGIN: Slovakia. The cultivar selected in the Plant Raising Institute in Bojanice by J. Šimánek in 1973.
